Man arrested for assaulting Hampton officer

HAMPTON, Va. – Hampton Police have arrested, Daniel Gerard Clark, in connection with an assault on an officer that occurred on November 30.

At 11:47 p.m., Safety Communications received a call about a suspicious person complaint in the 400 block of Lee Street.

When officers arrived, they made contact with a homeowner who said Clark was trespassing.

Officers made contact with Clark, who was standing on the front porch of a home in the 400 block of Lee Street and he struck an officer multiple times in the face with a closed fist.

The officer was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released for non-life-threatening injuries.

Clark has been charged with one count of Assault and Battery of a Police Officer and remains in the Hampton City Jail.
