NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk SPCA completed the terms of a grant paying for the spay/neuter of 1,390 outdoor cats in Norfolk.

The SPCA received the grant nearly two years ago. The grant pays for assistance in putting homeless kittens up for adoption.

The funding helped people humanely trap outdoor cats in Norfolk and bring them to get spayed or neutered at the SPCA’s public veterinary clinic for free. The cats also received a free rabies shot.

This was the second PetSmart Charities grant awarded to the Norfolk SPCA. The first grant helped with the sterilization of 1,200 cats.

With the help of the grant, the Norfolk SPCA has been able to spay/neuter almost 2,600 cats living without owners in Norfolk at no cost.

The price for Norfolk cats and outdoor felines from other communities will be only $40.
