NORFOLK, Va. - Torrie Brennan-Creamer’s son asked her a question five years ago that changed her life.

“My son, six years old, came up to me and was like, why are you fat?” Creamer recalled.

“At that moment I did honestly see myself through his eyes. I had no health problems,” she said. “There was nothing, no reason why I was at that weight.”

Creamer tipped the scales at 322 pounds when her son asked that question. Five years later, she has lost and kept off 150 pounds. Her journey earned her a spot on the Fall cover of First for Women Magazine.

“I felt like a celebrity,” the 39-year-old married mother of three said. “My life is just as chaotic as anybody else, but I took control of my life and I changed it for the best.”

Creamer’s weight loss journey began in 2011 with Body by Ken Bootcamp for Women. She said the support and encouragement is what kept her going.

“With running, I tried to, but then I fell,” she said of her day at the boot camp. “I was humiliated.”

Creamer said Williams and two other trainers came to pick her up off the ground. Williams and the women in the class then cheered her on and pushed her to keep going.

“If they’re not letting me fail, I can’t let myself fail,” she said.

Creamer’s remained with the boot camp throughout her weight loss journey. Now, she is inspiring other busy women to take action and put their health first.

“If I can do this, we all can do this,” she said.

The working mother usually follows a high protein, low carb lifestyle to burn fat and build muscle. During the holidays, she does treat herself with healthy modifications of often sugary or fatty foods.

“What you’re putting into your body is the most important,” she said.

On her social media page “What The Fork Are You Eating” Creamer shares recipes for tasty Thanksgiving alternatives.

“I make a sweet potato that tastes just as good as the yams with the marshmallows and the pecans,” she said. “I make roasted apples, and just put a pinch of brown sugar, a pinch of nutmeg, cinnamon and have it roasted with walnuts.”

“I’m so much happier healthier,” she said.
