Hampton Police arrest three suspects in connection with multiple crimes

Dashawn Lamar Hines has been charged with one count of attempt robbery, five counts of robbery, six counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and six counts of conspiracy to commit a felony.

HAMPTON, Va. – Police have arrested three men for their connection in multiple crimes that happened on Monday and Tuesday.

On Monday at 1:43 a.m. a robbery and carjacking were reported to Police Communications.

Police responded to the Stop and Go gas station located in the 2200 block of W Mercury Blvd., where they found a 30-year-old victim.

The victim said while he was parked near the Embassy Suites getting items out of the back of his white GMC Yukon he was approached by two unknown suspects.

The suspects were armed with handguns and forced the victim back into his vehicle and ordered him to drive to an ATM to withdraw money.

The victim complied with their demands and but when they were unable to make a withdraw from the ATM the suspects fled from the area taking the victim’s vehicle.

On Tuesday at 9:27 p.m. officers responded to the first block of Derby Drive for an attempted robbery from a person.

The victim was a 17-year-old man who said he was walking through the parking lot of the town homes and was approached by the suspects.

The teen said the suspects were in a white SUV. One of the suspects in the back seat exited the SUV armed with a firearm and demanded the victim’s property.

The victim ran from the area before the suspect could get any of his property. No injuries were reported in this incident.

At 10:16 p.m., police responded to the Spring Hill Suites hotel for a robbery. Officers arrived on scene and met with the two victims, adult males from Israel, who said that as they were walking through the parking lot towards the hotel they were approached by the unknown suspects.

The suspects were occupying a white SUV when one of the passengers exited from the vehicle armed with a firearm and demanded property from both victims. The victims complied with the suspect’s demands and the suspects fled from the area in the SUV after obtaining money from each victim.

There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident.

At 10:37 p.m. on Tuesday police responded to the Town Suites hotel for a robbery. Three victims at the scene told officers they were walking through the parking lot towards the hotel when two suspects appeared from behind bushes and demanded their property.

The victims gave money and their cell phones to the suspects. No injuries were reported in this incident either.

Officers responded to the 2100 block of West Mercury Boulevard and observed a white SUV in the parking lot of the Ambassador Inn & Suites hotel. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and a vehicle pursuit then ensued.

The vehicle traveled down West Mercury Boulevard where the suspects merged onto I-64. Once on I-64 the suspect vehicle exited onto I-664 towards Newport News where they exited on Chestnut Road.

The pursuit ended a short time later when the suspect vehicle crashed into the Chic-A-Sea restaurant located in the 4400 block of Jefferson Avenue.

The suspects fled from the SUV but, with the assistance of Newport News Police Department, Hampton officers were able to locate and apprehend three of the four occupants of the white SUV. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle utilized by the suspects was the same vehicle that was taken from the victim on Monday.

Two male juveniles (one a 16-year-old from Hampton and the other a 17-year-old from Newport News) that were apprehended have been charged with one count of attempt robbery, five counts of robbery, six counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony, six counts of conspiracy to commit a felony, and one count of possession of a firearm by a minor.

Their pictures have not been released because they are minors.
