A nice stretch of fall weather on tap this week….We’re tracking plenty of sun and highs in the 60s for the rest of the week.

But first, for our Tuesday evening, expect quiet weather across Hampton Roads and Northeastern North Carolina. We’ll see mostly clear skies. Areas of patchy fog will likely develop late tonight. Low temperatures will dip into the lower 40s.

On Wednesday, some of us will likely have to dodge areas of patchy fog in the morning. Then, the fog will dissipate, giving way to mostly sunny skies. Highs will be in the mid 60s. By evening, a fast-moving cold front will sink southward, delivering a few more clouds for us. But overall, our rain chances will remain slim. The front will do very little with our temperatures, too. In fact, highs are expected in the lower 60s Thursday under mostly sunny skies. Highs will warm into the mid and upper 60s by Friday and near 70 on Saturday.

Then, on Saturday, a strong cold front will push through the area, delivering some very cold weather our way. We’re forecasting highs in the mid 50s on Sunday and the lower 50s on Monday.

Tonight: A Few Clouds. Areas of Patchy Fog. Chilly. Lows in the low 40s. Winds: W 5-10 mph.

Wednesday: Patchy AM Fog. Then, Mostly Sunny. A Few PM Clouds. Highs in the mid 60s. Winds: W 5-10 mph.

Thursday: Mostly Sunny and Mild. Highs in the lower 60s. Winds: N 5-15 mph.

Tropical Update

We are watching a broad low pressure system located over the southwestern Caribbean Sea. Environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for slow development during the next several days. A tropical depression is likely to form by late this week or over the weekend while the low drifts generally northward.

* Formation chance through 48 hours: Low (20%)

* Formation chance through 5 days: High (80%)
