Car with baby inside shot at, 17-year-old wounded in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – A shooting in Newport News Friday night left one teen injured and a car with a baby in it with bullet holes.

Police Dispatch received a call about the incident at 7:56 p.m. that occurred in the 300 block of Kingsman Drive.

Police located a 17-year-old gunshot victim when they got to the scene who had been shot in the right shin.

The victim said he was walking in the area of Beechmont Dr. and Rosemond Court with a friend when a car drove by and he heard gunshots.

The teen was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

During the incident a female was driving down Beechmont Dr. with a baby in the back seat when her car was struck by gunfire.

The baby and driver were not injured.

There is no suspect description at this time.

Police say the incidents are possibly related.
