VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Former tenants of the Waypoint at Lynnhaven apartment complex say many of their belongings have been stolen.

Tenants had their leases terminated last month after asbestos was discovered in their homes following clean up from Hurricane Matthew.

Since then, most tenants have been living in hotels with only their essentials. The tenants who have been granted access back to their homes say they came back to find electronics and other items stolen. More than a dozen incident reports have been filed with Virginia Beach Police from the complex since tenants had their leases terminated.

Due to the asbestos, not all tenants are allowed back into their homes. Lonell Hayes tells News 3, since he isn't allowed to go back to his home, he asked police to check to see if his guns were still there. When police could not find the firearms, he reported them missing.
