Heather L. Cordasco (R), running for Virginia House of Delegates in the 93rd District

1. Why are you running for office?

I am running for office because I want to serve my neighbors and community. Having lived in this region for 23 years, I understand the needs of the district. I also understand how to communicate those needs to legislators in Richmond. I believe that together, we can work to improve the quality of life for all Virginians.

2. Why should people vote for you?

If you want someone who will work day-in and day-out fighting for the people of the 93rd District, you should vote for me. I am a hard worker and will do everything I can to fully represent all of the voters of the 93rd District in the Virginia House of Delegates. I will leverage my experience from serving on the school board to bring real success to the district.

3. What’s your favorite thing about the area you want to represent?

The 93rd District is incredibly diverse in people, businesses, and geography. It is amazing how our communities come together to live, work, play, and worship. I would be humbled to represent this district.

4. What is the biggest problem your area is facing; how will you fix it?

Jobs and economic development is the single biggest issue facing families. So many individuals have lost their job, and as a result have either taken a job they are overqualified for or given up on looking for employment altogether. This is unfortunate and needs to be fixed. We must do everything we can to make Virginia business-friendly again so that jobs and economic opportunity flourish for everyone. We can achieve this by reforming our outdated tax structure, getting rid of burdensome regulations that harm businesses, and investing in workforce training programs to give individuals the skills they need to compete. If we do this, we can achieve economic opportunity for all.

6. Describe Hillary Clinton in max 3 words?

7. What do you do for a living? Why do you do it?

I am professional fitness consultant. I specialize in exercise with aging adults. I enjoy what I do because I want people to have the longest, healthiest life possible so they can enjoy life to the fullest.

8. You’re going to be marooned on a tropical island for a week, you can only bring 1 thing – what is it?

A really good book.

9. What do you think of Colin Kaepernick?

We are fortunate to live in a country that allows freedom of speech. Individuals are free to express their feelings in a variety of ways on any topic he/she chooses. While I do not agree with Mr. Kaepernick’s method of protesting, I respect his decision to express his views.

10. Would you vote to fund light rail expansion in your area?

Our region faces significant challenges with transportation. There are a multitude of ways to help relieve transportation gridlock, including light rail. I will need to see specific proposals that involve the 93rd District and how the proposals impact will relieve transportation gridlock before giving support.

11. Will you respect the outcome of the election?

I have full faith in the local registrars who conduct elections in every locality. I know that they carry out the election on November 8th in accordance with our principles of free, fair, and open democratic elections.
