VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Operation Blessing is one of the first organizations to pack their bags and get their hands dirty when disaster strikes anywhere in the world. Now, the Virginia Beach based organization needs help in their own back yard.

Thousands of people lost everything when Hurricane Matthew hit Hampton Roads. Operation Blessing is working to assist victims, but they need help.

This week, Operation Blessing is asking for volunteers to join them at their headquarters on Centerville Turnpike in the mornings. From there, they will transport volunteers to people's home who were devastated by Hurricane Matthew.

Volunteers should wear rubber boots and long pants for safety. Operation Blessing will provide everything workers need including  work assignments, tools and lunch. Volunteers need to have their own transportation to and from the work site. No reservations are needed for daily volunteers. For more information click here.
