VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The good deeds of Ric Rose continue to have life. You may recall last week we introduced you to the Virginia Beach resident.

He was the “Good Samaritan” who helped out Cherese and Early Jackson after they got stranded due to flood waters from Hurricane Matthew.

I presented Rose with a News 3 People Taking Action award, but when I then tried to present him with a $300 Visa gift card from our community partner Southern Bank, he was grateful but told me, “I can't accept this--I cannot. I want you to give this to some family, that is hurting right now in regard to the floods and everything else that's going on. I don't need this...they do.”

So, we remembered a story New 3’s Kim Cung did last week,  which featured Arlene Mintah.  She, her husband and three kids were flooded out of their home at the Waypoint Apartment Complex in Virginia Beach.

The expectant mom spent last week throwing out flood-damaged gifts from a recent baby shower---she's due in 22 days. So this week, we paid her a visit and told her about the offer from Ric Rose.

Fighting back tears of thanks she said, “I was telling my husband when we get it, we'll split in half and give the lady across from us.” Yes,---Arlene wants to share the gift card with a neighbor at the flooded apartment complex, because Arlene is concerned about this woman who is a mother too, “She can get half because she's going through same thing.”

And her message to Ric, our “Good Samaritan” about making sure someone in need got the gift card, “You didn’t have to give it, but you did. And you know---you’re a good person. Me and my family, we thank you. And know, I’m going to use it, half of it, help someone else, bless someone else, just like you blessed us. I just want you to know, we’re passing along the blessing along."
