Monday’s First Warning Forecast: Some patchy fog to start, then sunshine and warm temps

The First Warning Storm Team is tracking dry conditions heading into your Monday.

Another mostly clear night on tap with calm winds. Patchy fog is likely in some areas, so take that into consideration if you’re heading out early Monday morning. Lows tonight in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

High pressure will continue to be in control heading into next week and we’ll see a warm-up with highs Monday in the mid to upper 70s, and with temperatures near 80 on Tuesday and Wednesday. Winds will pick up a bit on Tuesday, but still looking like a dry day.

Sunday night: Mostly clear with some patchy fog. Lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s. Winds: SW around 5.

Monday: Some patchy fog in the morning. Mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 70s, may see a few 80s. Winds: SW 5-10.

Monday night: Mostly clear. Lows in the lower 60s. Winds: SW 5-10.

Tropical Update

Nicole is still holding on as a category 1 hurricane. Hurricane Nicole continues to move northeastward. Nicole is centered about 570 miles SE of Cape Race, Newfoundland and moving NE at 9 mph. This motion is expected to continue with an increase in forward speed during the next 48 hours.

Maximum sustained winds are near 80 mph with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast during the next 48 hours. Nicole is expected to produce hurricane-force winds through Tuesday, but should lose its tropical characteristics as well.

Swells from Nicole will affect our coastline this week. Dangerous surf and rip currents are possible.

The First Warning Storm Team is also keeping an eye on a disturbance in the Bahamas. At this point, conditions do not look favorable for cyclone formation. However, conditions could become more conducive for cyclone development on Tuesday or Wednesday.
