NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Hillary Clinton is now 15 points ahead of Donald Trump in Virginia, according to a new poll among Virginia voters.

The findings of the poll, conducted by Christopher Newport University’s Wason Center for Public Policy, were released Sunday.

On the five-candidate ballot, Clinton leads over Trump 44-29 percent.

That’s up from the last poll the Wason Center released in September when Clinton had a seven point lead over Trump.

The poll was conducted from October 11 to October 14 among 809 likely Virginia voters.  That was after the controversial ‘Access Hollywood’ tape was released and the second presidential debate.

Here are some of the poll’s key findings:

  • Women’s support for Clinton is nearly double their support for Trump, 50-26 percent.
  • Clinton now leads among men for the first time, 37-32 percent.
  • Independent voters are moving to Clinton from Trump and from Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson.
  • Clinton’s lead in Northern Virginia has risen to 55 percent; Trump’s lead in South/Southwest Virginia has grown to 48 percent.
  • Among likely voters in Virginia’s military households, Clinton now leads Trump for the first time, 38-32 percent.
