NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – A pedestrian died from his injuries after being hit by a car while attempting to cross Warwick Boulevard.

On October 13 around 10:30 p.m., police received a call for an accident involving a pedestrian near the intersection of Denbigh Boulevard and Warwick Boulevard.

When officers arrived, they found  a man suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Police say the victim was crossing Warwick Boulevard from the shopping center and stepped off the median into the roadway.

The driver of the car closest to the victim was able to stop before hitting him, but the car in the second lane was not able to brake in time and hit the victim.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.

There will be no charges filed at this time.
