Two pets die from smoke conditions in Norfolk fire

NORFOLK, Va. – Fire crews responded to two fires Tuesday night.

At 8:30 p.m. crews worked on putting out a garage fire that had extended into a home at 1451 W. Little Creek Rd.

Officials brought the fire under control within 30 minutes, according to the Battalion Chief.

At least two pets died in the incident because of smoke conditions inside the residence. One cat was treated at the scene and survived.

No civilians or fire personnel were injured.

Crews also responded to a fire around 8:30 p.m. that displaced two adults at 2840 Merrimack Court.

Units arrived and found smoke and flames visible and brought the interior fire under control within 20 minutes.

No injuries were reported in this incident.
