VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Bay Colony section of the city is still experiencing issues from Hurricane Matthew.

Neighbors say they have not had power since it went out on Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

"You can't microwave anything, you can't cook, your stuff has gone bad in the refrigerator, freezer," says Matt DesRoches. "We've got to go out to eat, let's put it that way."

On Tuesday, the area still had several downed trees and power lines remaining.

Dominion Virginia Power officials say there are about 500 customers in the area still without electricity.

Crews have come in from Northern Virginia to assist with restoration.

"This is the worst we've seen in my time here on this storm," says Kenny Wilkins, manager of construction for Dominion Power.

Crews have not only had to deal with massive trees on several power lines, but also issues with accessibility.

"It's a lot of small roads and a lot of traffic down here," says Wilkins.

Neighbors say access has also been a problem for them, with East Bay Shore Drive one of the only ways to get through the neighborhood.

"It's been awful this week just trying to get in and out of the neighborhood," says Renee Wampler.

Dominion Power officials say crews will still be out working on  Wednesday. Power likely will not be restored until Thursday at the latest.
