Celebrate Dogtoberfest in Norfolk!

DogtoberfestNORFOLK, Va. – Dogtoberfest is sort of like the infamous Oktoberfest, but for our four-legged friends!

The third annual Dogtoberfest is scheduled to take place Sunday October 23 from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the ever dog-friendly O’Conner Brewing Company in Ghent.

Dogs and their human companions are invited to the event by Friends of Norfolk Animal Care Center (NACC).

The doggie social hopes to raise funding for the city’s largest animal shelter.

Last year the group raised more than $10k.

For an online donation of $25 patrons will get a ticket to a variety of goodies like a custom Dogtoberfest beer glass, craft beer tasting, and lunch at one of the three food trucks in service at the event.

T-shirts will also be on sale at the event as well as an opportunity to get your picture taken with a giant pretzel and other fun items in the “Oompah-Awesome Photo Booth.”

There will also be a costume contest for dogs and a “Ticks for Treats” contest.

The winner of the pup pageant will reign as “Toptober-Dog” for the year and will be featured as the “cover dog” for next year’s Dogtoberfest.
