1,000 Youth March to end bullying rescheduled due to Hurricane Matthew

NEWPORT NEWS, Va.  - Crowds are expected to participate in the 4th Annual 1000 Youth March. The event will take place on Sunday, October 16 from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. It was originally scheduled for October 9 but was changed due to Hurricane Matthew.

The march is a collaboration between Parents Against Bullying of Virginiaand the Newport News Mayor's Initiative to End Bullying, which is a city-wide partnership with the U.S. Conference of Mayors and the BULLY Project to make communities safe and supportive environments for all youth.

Parents Against Bullying is a 501(c)3 that promotes community awareness about bullying prevention, and is a One City Marathon designated charity.

According to Newport News city officials, about one in every four kids in the U.S. is bullied on a regular basis, totaling 13 million children bullied each year.

The march will take place at Todd Stadium in Newport News, located at 12465 Warwick Blvd.  In addition to performers and speakers, there will be information about mental health, food trucks, and more.
