DES MOINES, Iowa -- Drake didn't ditch Drake after all.

The campaign to bring the rapper to the Drake University worked. He stopped by an empty campus around 2:30 a.m. on his way out of Des Moines.

“Now we're in disbelief together that it actually happened,” said Drake Student Body President Thalia Anguiano.

Drake snapped a picture in front of the Drake University sign and posted it to Instagram. Then, he stopped by two sororities, Kappa Kappa Gamma and Kappa Alpha Theta.

“They missed it and I felt so bad for them,” said Ben Scott, a junior at Drake.

Most everyone inside was asleep and the few who were awake either didn’t hear the doorbell or didn't want to answer at that hour.

"I think I was the only one that actually saw him and spoke to him which was phenomenal. I can't believe it happened," said the Drake Junior.

Scott lives across the street at Theta Chi and was still up after seeing Drake in concert at Wells Fargo Arena.

"We just had a really brief conversation, 'Hey, do you think anyone is awake? What’s going on?'" he said.

"I missed him, it was really close," said Anguiano.  "At least I can say Drake was on my campus.”

Other fans will soon be feeling the sorority sisters' pain as well.  They won’t be able to see Drake as planned, according to a Rolling Stone report that the rapper has canceled three upcoming shows in Toronto, Philadelphia, and Newark due to an ankle injury.
