PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Jury selection is underway for the trial of Takiara Lewis-White.

She was charged with felony murder, child neglect, eluding police and driving with a suspended license after police say she crashed her car, killing two young girls.

The victims were identified as eight-year-old Destiny Wilson and five-year-old Shawnta Wilson. The girls are not related to Lewis-White.

Police say there was also a one-year-old boy in the car, but he survived the crash.

As previously reported by News 3, police say they tried to pull Lewis-White over for doing 77 in a 55 miles-per-hour zone.

Lewis-White did not pull over, instead speeding up to over 100 miles-per-hour, according to previous witness court testimony.

Police say she tried to get off on the Greenwood Drive exit ramp, off I-264 W, but lost control of the vehicle.

Court records show prosecutors have sent aside three days for this trial.
