Chief Meteorologist Patrick Rockey’s First Warning Forecast

radar-fullYes, we are tracking showers and possible thunderstorms on the way for part of the weekend. No, it will not be a washout. An area of low pressure with a trailing cold front will cross the region Friday night and through the day on Saturday. Along that, we could see a few showers and thunderstorms develop. We expect these to be fairly scattered. That means not all of us will have to deal with wet weather. But we will hold onto a 30% chance for rain on Saturday.

Those rain chances go down to 20% on Sunday. And we expect more sunshine for the second half of the weekend.

Expect high temperatures in the low to mid 80s both days this weekend.

Dryer and milder weather returns on Monday and Tuesday. We’ll see plenty of sunshine and high temperatures in the mid-to-upper 70s.

After that, our focus will be on the tropics and what happens with Hurricane Matthew. Right now it looks like a front will arrive to guide the storm away from us. But it will be a close call. We are expecting scattered showers with that front beginning Wednesday and continuing through Friday of next week.
