Break out your comics or stop by a local comic book shop! Sunday, September 25 is National Comic Book Day!

Comics have been around since the end of the 19th century, but it wasn’t until the late 1930s that they became popularized as the books fans know and love.

D.C. Comics, then known as National Allied Publications, and Marvel emerged as the biggest names in the business and kickstarted the genre’s golden age.

The golden age saw the creation of Superman, Batman, Captain America and many others.

In the eighty years since, comic books have evolved into a pop culture craze.

National Comic Book Day is a day when fans set aside their differences and celebrate.

The popularity of comic book characters have helped them jump from the page to the television and big screen.

For those who like to read on the go, comics are also available through a variety of mobile apps and online.

D.C. or Marvel, hard copy or digital, Aqua Man or Iron Man–go out and celebrate!
