BLACKSBURG, Va. – Even though Virginia Tech beat Boston College 49-0, Saturday’s game featured a major comeback.

It was the first game action for Hokies running back Marshawn Williams, a Phoebus High School product. Williams, a redshirt sophomore, tore his ACL November 15, 2014. The one-time first-team tailback missed all of last season rehabbing his injury. Then, the Hampton native was forced to sit out the first two games of 2016 as he dealt with an academic issue.

Saturday against BC, Williams led Virginia Tech in rushing attempts and rushing yards.

“I was happy more than anything to be out there,” Williams said. “It had been almost two years, and it was a tough road. The rehab was hard, really hard – but I got through it. I’m just blessed to be able to still play.”
