First Warning Forecast: Rain and possible storms on tap for Monday

The First Warning Storm Team is tracking rain and possible storms for your Monday.

Julia is now a Post Tropical Cyclone as of the 11:00 pm update from the National Hurricane Center. Julia will continue to move toward the North Carolina coast late Monday. A cold front will cross the region Monday into Tuesday. Both, will give us some rain. Highs Monday in the lower 80s. Rain chances will increase heading into the afternoon.

A chance for showers heading into Tuesday as we get some remnant moisture from Julia. Looks like we could be dealing with a little bit of moisture from Julia through Wednesday, followed by drier conditions for the first day of fall on Thursday.

Monday: Rain develops. A chance for storms in the afternoon. Some rain may be heavy at times. Highs in the lower 80s. Winds: SE 5-10 mph.

Monday night: Cloudy with showers, then a chance for showers late. Lows in the lower 70s. Winds: E 5-10 mph.

Tropical Update

Post Tropical Cyclone Julia continues to linger off the coast of the Carolinas. Some remnant moisture is possible over the next few days up the east coast. Julia is moving toward the NW at 7 mph. Winds at 30 mph with some higher gusts. The system is expected to be near the coast of southeastern North Carolina Monday afternoon or evening.


Tropical Storm Karl is still located in the central Atlantic and not strengthening at this point. The system is moving toward the west at 15 mph. Max sustained winds of 40 mph with higher gusts. Karl is expected to strengthen over the next few days. A turn toward the west-northwest is expected by late Monday.
