WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The rain had been on-and-off all afternoon, but when Mike Pence took the stage at an outdoor rally on Tuesday night, it started pouring.

“Thanks for coming out on what we call a moist evening, but you know where I come from in the Hoosier state, rain is a good thing,” Pence told hundreds of supporters.

Pence once again laid out his and Donald Trump’s vision if they’re elected. The speech was similar to others he’s given in Hampton Roads, but this time also discussed the recent bombings in New York and New Jersey.

“It truly is a miracle there was no loss of life, but the truth of the matter is seven and a half years of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton’s brand of leadership has weakened America’s place in the world and emboldened our enemies,” Pence said.

Protesters tried to disrupt things just outside of the event, but Pence continued on speaking for about thirty minutes.

State Sen. Mamie Locke, a Hillary Clinton supporter, spoke against Trump before the rally. She called out Trump for his questioning of President’s Obama’s citizenship. “Donald Trump not seeing Obama as an American citizen is part of his consistent pattern of bigotry and divisiveness,” she said.

Before the rally, Pence held aveterans round table aboard the USS Wisconsin.
