Police seek victims of unlawful filming at 17th Street Surf Shop

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Police are trying to identify potential victims of an unlawful filming that happened at 17th Street Surf Shop in the Red Mill Commons Shopping Center.

The Special Victims Unit has found video with additional victims on it.

The detective assigned to the case is looking for a white female, between the ages of 18 to 40 who tried on dresses or bathing suits in the 17th Street Surf Shop dressing room between August 10 and August 22.

If you or anyone you know matches this description, contact the Virginia Beach Police Department Special Victims Unit between the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday at 757-385-4101.

According to police, 17th Street Surf Shop is cooperating with detectives and asks that any inquiries about the case be directed to the Virginia Beach Police Department Special Victims Unit.

Hearing the details of the creepy crime, makes Julia Chaney, a customer of the store for years scared to shop there again.

"It makes me feel really uncomfortable. I go in there all the time, I try on swimsuits myself in there and I don't know if that maybe has happened to me before," said Chaney. She added from now on, anytime she goes to try on clothes, she will keep her eye out for any cameras secretly recording her.
