TCC offers information session to students affected by ITT Tech closure

NORFOLK, Va. – Tidewater Community College wants to help students who were affected by the closure of ITT Tech.

The college is mobilizing to help students whose educations was disrupted by the announcement of the closure on Tuesday.

TCC will host a special information session for ITT Tech students on Saturday, September 10 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The session will be held at TCC’s Norfolk campus in the Andrews Science Building at 315 Granby Street.

TCC staff representing admission as well as and financial aid and academic advisers will be at the event to answer questions and to talk to students.

Students will be able to meet with staff to talk about their goals, where they are in their programs, what credits may be transferable, and their financial aid status.

Twelve-week classes at TCC begin September 12. TCC also offers eight-week classes beginning October 19 as well as a variety of shorter term courses.

Students have been told by ITT Techthat they may have difficulty transferring their credits to another institution. President Kolovani said TCC will look at each student’s record individually and determine the transfer scenario that will work best.

The college has also established a hotline and email address for ITT Tech students.

Anyone planning to attend Saturday’s information session should bring:

• Photo ID
• Any ITT Tech academic records, including official and unofficial transcripts
• List of courses taken at ITT Tech, including syllabi and/or course descriptions if available
• For those using the GI Bill, the DD-214, which details one’s military service, and Veterans Administration Certificate of Eligibility. Veterans should also bring a copy of their Joint Services Transcript (JST).
