NORFOLK, Va. - Virginia Senator and vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine made the case for Hillary Clinton to become the nation's Commander in Chief during a campaign stop at ODU on Friday.

"We can't make military service easy. We can't. We can make military service a little easier if we put the right policies in place and Hillary Clinton understands that," Kaine told a crowd of supporters.

Kaine's wife, former Virginia Secretary of Education Anne Holton also spoke, along with several other local and state politicians.

The speech highlighted differences between Clinton and Donald Trump. "We don't go after John McCain and make fun of him because he was a POW," said Kaine in reference to comments Donald Trump made about McCain in 2015.

Kaine also spent time reflecting on joining Clinton's ticket. "When she asked me to be her running mate, I felt like Pinocchio turning into a real boy, like 'wow. You want me. Are you kidding?'"

The former Virginia governor also made the case for people to join the campaign as volunteers with under two months to go before election day. "I have run eight races and I have won eight races," Kaine said. "I'm going to be 9-0 after November 8th."

Trump's running mate, Gov. Mike Pence, is making a campaign stop in Virginia on Saturday when he visits the Liberty Farm Festival.
