PORTSMOUTH, Va. – The U.S. 58 West Midtown Tunnel will be closed on Saturday for the Midtown Tunnel 5K Run/Walk.
A full closure is planned August 27 from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in order to allow for participants to safely run through the runnel for the event.
Westbound traffic will be detoured to the I-264 Downtown Tunnel as an alternate route.
Motorists traveling from Norfolk to Portsmouth between 6 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. will follow this detour.
The eastbound tunnel will remain open during the event Saturday and will delay planned weekend construction work until 12 p.m. that day.
The eastbound tunnel will remain closed from 12 p.m. on August 27 until 5 a.m. on August 29.
Motorists traveling from Portsmouth to Norfolk on those days should follow this detour.
