NORFOLK, Va. – Two Ocean View beaches swimming advisories were lifted on Wednesday.
The North Community Beach and 10th View tested for high bacteria levels on August 23, according to the Norfolk Department of Public Health.
Water samples taken showed that bacteria levels exceeded the State Water Quality Standards, but they now meet standards.
Recreational waters are monitored for bacteria through the summer months while beaches are in use.
The bacteria found does not cause illness but scientific studies indicate that their presence is closely correlated to the presence of other disease-causing organisms.
