Meteorologist Myles Henderson’s First Warning Forecast

Last day of extreme heat… Highs will return to the mid 90s today, with afternoon heat index values between 100 and 105. Expect sunshine this morning with clouds developing this afternoon. A “pop-up” shower or storm is possible this afternoon but rain chances will increase a bit tonight as a front starts to move in.

The front will slowly drag through the region through Thursday and into Friday. Expect more clouds with scattered showers and storms both days. The front will also bring a break from the extreme heat. Expect highs in the upper 80s to end the work week. Afternoon heat index values will be in the upper 90s to near 100.

Tonight: Partly Cloudy, Scattered Showers/Storms(30%). Lows in the upper 70s. Winds: SW 5-15

Tropical Update

Tropical Depression Six is expected to become a tropical storm later today. TD 6 is located about 840 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands and is moving WNW at 15 mph. This motion with a decrease in forward speed is expected over the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph with higher gusts. Slow strengthening is forecast over the next day or two. TD 6 will likely become tropical storm Fiona later today.
