*Heat Advisory in effect until 8:00 pm*

The First Warning Storm Team is tracking dangerous heat for the weekend.

We will continue to see mostly dry conditions this weekend, all thanks in part to a high pressure system off to our east. This high pressure is blocking any cold fronts from crossing the region.

Take it easy this weekend! With high pressure offshore, we will continue to feel the oppressive heat. In fact, highs will soar into the mid 90s on both Saturday and Sunday. However, we’ll have heat index values between 105 and 110. Some isolated areas could see heat index values close to 115. We’ll see a mix of sun and clouds. A stray pop-up shower or storm is possible, but most areas will be dry.

Next week, the high offshore will loosen its grip a bit, allowing for a slow-moving cold front to approach the area from the west. That front will increase our rain chances by midweek. High temperatures will also slip back into the low 90s to start the week. By midweek, highs will be in the upper 80s.

Have a good weekend!

Today: Partly Cloudy. Stray Showers/Storms (10%). Highs in the mid 90s. Heat Index 105-110+. Winds: SW 5-15 mph.

Tonight: Partly cloudy. Warm and muggy. Lows in the upper 70s. Winds: SW 5-10 mph.
