Meteorologist Myles Henderson’s First Warning Forecast

Cooler with spotty showers… An area of low pressure will slowly slide along the North Carolina coast over the next few days, keeping clouds and showers in the forecast. Expect partly to mostly cloudy skies with isolated showers and stray storms possible for the rest of the work week. Expect highs in the low to mid 80s today, mid 80s tomorrow and upper 80s by Friday.

Highs will climb back into the 90s this weekend with a higher chance for showers and storms Saturday night into Sunday morning as a cold front moves through the region.

Tropical Update

Tropical Storm Earl is expected to become a hurricane as it approaches Belize. Earl is located about 120 miles east of Isla Roatan, Honduras and about 235 miles ESE of Belize City, Belize. Earl is moving west at 14 mph and will continue moving generally west with a decrease in forward speed over the next 48 hours. On this track, Earl is expected to pass near the Honduras Bay Islands this afternoon and then make landfall in Belize tonight or early Thursday. Maximum sustained winds are near 70 mph with higher gusts. Earl will likely become a hurricane later today before making landfall. Weakening is expected after the center of Earl moves inland over Belize, Guatemala, and southern Mexico.
