Officials are asking for input from the community as they work to update the Hampton Roads Hazard Mitigation Plan.

The purpose of the five-year plan is to get a better understanding of each community's hazard risks, such as floods and hurricanes, and determine the best ways to minimize or manage them.

A survey has been created to gather feedback from people about their concerns and ideas.

It will be available until Wednesday, August 17.  Click here to fill out the survey.

You can also make sure you're prepared for natural disasters by getting emergency supplies tax free this weekend.  The annual Virginia Hurricane Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday will take place from August 5-7.
