NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – New Beech Grove Baptist Church, along with the Newport News Police Department and other city departments are hosting the InTouch Community Event and Basketball Tournament.
The free event takes place at the Denbigh Community Center on Friday, August 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Attendees will be able to enjoy the First Responder Basketball Tournament with teams from the Newport News Police Department, Hampton Police and Newport News Sheriff’s Office. There will also be a community tournament open to citizens ages 12 and over.
The winner of the community tournament will play the winner of the First Responder Tournament in a final championship game.
The Newport News Police Department, Newport News Fire Department, the Newport News Sheriff’s Office, and Hampton Police Division will provide equipment. They will also offer information on job opportunities, scholarships and other community programs.
