***A Heat Advisory is in effect from Noon until 8 PM today for the Peninsula, Southside and Northeastern North Carolina. Most areas will see highs in the low 90s with afternoon heat index values near 105.***

Storm chances continue… A string of fronts remains stalled to our north, keeping showers and storms in the forecast. Expect a mix of sun and clouds today with scattered showers and storms firing up this afternoon and lasting through the evening. Some storms could be strong to severe with gusty winds and heavy downpours possible. Highs today will return to the low 90s with afternoon heat index values near 105.

Highs will remain in the low to mid 90s for the rest of the work week. It will still be humid, so triple digit heat index values will be possible each afternoon. Scattered showers and storms will fire up again each day this week and into the weekend. Highs will drop into the 80s for the start of next week with more scattered showers and storms.
