LITTLE CREEK, Va. – The Coast Guard rescued three mariners Saturday evening after their boat started filling up with water.

Coast Guard Station Little Creek watchstanders received notice that a 23-foot boat was taking on water 10 miles east of Rudee Inlet.

A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew arrived on scene at approximately 7:45 p.m. The Coast Guard personnel transferred three men onto the RB-M and brought them to Owl’s Creek boat ramp in Virginia Beach.

TowBoat US also responded to the scene and towed the boat to Owl’s Creek.

There were no injuries or pollution reported.

“It was not a good case, because no case is good, but it was a smooth case,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Nathan Reynolds, who was the RB-M coxswain. “Our boat manual says, ‘Train, maintain and operate,’ and that’s just what Station Little Creek does.”
