Suffolk celebrates 100 years of Mr. Peanut!

SUFFOLK, Va. - One hundred years ago, the character we all know and love, Mr. Peanut, was born in Suffolk.

A young boy, Antonio Gentile, created the original drawing that was soon adopted by Planters Peanuts.

On Tuesday, Gentile's nephew, Robert Slade, will be at the Suffolk-Nansemond Historical Society to celebrate the milestone.

Slade will discuss his uncle's story and his long lasting legacy.

The event is from 2 - 3 p.m. on Tuesday and is free and open to the public.
