Coast Guard, good Samaritan rescue five from grounded boat near Ocracoke Inlet

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Coast Guard and a good Samaritan boater helped transfer an injured person and four other people from a boat that had run aground near Ocracoke Inlet on Monday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Hatteras received a call for help at approximately 5:50 p.m. from the 24-foot pleasure craft Miss Virginia.

A 24-foot Response Boat-Small crew from Station Ocracoke Inlet launched at 6:10 p.m.

A good Samaritan also responded and took aboard two adults and three children from the grounded boat.

The five people were then transferred onto the Coast Guard RBS.

The injured adult was transferred to medical personnel at the North Carolina Center for Advancement in Teaching Pier.
