VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Virginia Beach School Board has voted unanimously to extend the contract of Virginia Beach City Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Aaron Spence through June 30, 2020.

The 2016-2017 school year will be the third in Virginia Beach for Dr. Spence.

“The Board appreciates Dr. Spence’s leadership and his commitment to engaging our students, staff and community in important conversations about public education and school operations in our city,” said School Board Chairman Dan Edwards. “We are fortunate that he will continue to serve our students and this division for at least another four years.”

The contract extension is the second offered to Dr. Spence since he became superintendent in 2014. Neither extension changed his pay nor benefits.
