‘Varsity Blues’ actor Ron Lester dies at age 45

Ron Lester, the actor famously known for playing Billy-Bob in “Varsity Blues,” has died at age 45 ,according to TMZ.

Lester had been hospitalized in Dallas for about four months due to liver and kidney problems.

His health had been in a steady decline but turned for the worst Friday.

TMZ reported that Lester requested to be taken off life support and died at about 9 p.m. central time. His fiancée was by his side.

Lester also appeared in “Not Another Teen Movie” and “CSI: NY” and had been battling with liver and kidney issues as far back as November.

He tweeted back in November that his “liver and kidneys are starting to heal,” and that he “came close to dying.”

Lester, a Georgia native, once weighed as much as 500 pounds before getting gastric bypass surgery and losing over 300 pounds.
