Woman arrested for assaulting a man with frozen meat

Newport News, Va. – A woman has landed in jail after police say she hit a man across the face with a piece of frozen meat.

Police say Jacqueline James and another man were arguing at a home in Newport News Sunday night when the assault happened. James left the residence shortly afterwards and later called police saying she was assaulted.

Officers later met with James and the victim and determined that she was the primary aggressor.

The victim, a 57-year-old man, was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening facial wounds.

Police tell us both of them had been drinking at the time.

James is being charged with malicious wounding.
