Tuesday is a Primary Election Day in Virginia

NORFOLK, Va. - Tuesday, June 14 is a Primary Election Day in Virginia. Hampton Roads voters will head to the polls to cast ballots in three Congressional elections and one Virginia Senate election.

2nd Congressional District

Accomack County, Hampton, James City County, Norfolk, Northampton County, Poquoson, Virginia Beach, Williamsburg, and York County

In Virginia's 2nd Congressional District, U.S. Congressman Randy Forbes, Delegate Scott Taylor and Virginia Beach attorney Pat Cardwell are vying to be the Republican nominee for Representative Scott Rigell’s seat. Rep. Rigell announced in early 2016 that he would not be seeking reelection in November.

The Democratic candidate for Rigell's seat, community activist Shaun Brown, is representing her party unopposed.

4th Congressional District

Charles City County, Chesapeake, Chesterfield County, Colonial Heights, Dinwiddie County, Emporia, Greensville County, Henrico County, Hopewell, Petersburg, Prince George County, Richmond, Southampton County, Suffolk, Surry County and Sussex County

In Virginia's 4th Congressional District, both parties are holding elections for the candidates that will represent them in the November election. They are all vying for Rep. Randy Forbes' seat. Forbes chose not to seek re-election after the district lines were redrawn, instead choosing to run for the 2nd District seat.

On the Republican side, Jackee K. Gonzalez of Chesterfield is facing off against Henrico County Sheriff Mike Wade. And on the Democratic side, Chesapeake City Councilwoman Ella Ward will face off against Virginia Senator Donald McEachin (D-Henrico).

1st District Senate of Virginia

Hampton, James City County, Newport News, Suffolk, Williamsburg, York County

In Virginia's 1st Senate District, two Democratic candidates are looking to fill the seat vacated by the death of longtime Senator John Miller. Delegate T. Monty Mason is facing Newport News School Board member Shelly A. Simonds.

The Republican Party did not submit any candidates in the race.
