NORFOLK, Va. – A swimming advisory has been lifted for the beach at Captain’s Quarters Park, according to The Norfolk Department of Public Health.

The beach is located at 800 Little Bay Avenue.

Water sampling and testing revealed that bacteria levels of enterococci at the site exceeded State Water Quality Standards.

Enterococci bacteria doesn’t cause illness, but scientific studies indicate that the presence of this bacteria is closely correlated to the presence of other disease-causing organisms.

Signs were posted at the site to alert the public of the advisory and health officials continued to test the beach waters.
