Meteorologist Myles Henderson’s First Warning Forecast

Leftover showers then a tropical brush by…The rain and storms from Sunday night have moved out, with just a few leftover showers this morning. Expect more sunshine mixing in for this afternoon with highs in the mid to upper 80s. Rain chances will increase overnight tonight as Tropical Storm Colin moves very quickly up the Southeast coastline.

TS Colin is expected to cross over Florida later today then move just south of Hatteras on Tuesday. We can expect widespread rain and storms on Tuesday, especially in NC. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the Outer Banks. Winds will also increase; winds to near 20 mph in Hampton Roads but gusts to 40+ mph are possible for the Outer Banks.

Skies will clear and winds will relax Wednesday as TS Colin moves very quickly to the northeast and into the open Atlantic. We will see plenty of sunshine and highs near 80 for the second half of the work week.

Tropical Update

Tropical Storm Colin is bringing rain and wind to the Gulf Coast of Florida. Colin is located about 285 miles WSW of Tampa, FL and is moving NNE at 16 mph. A turn toward the northeast with an increase in forward speed is expected today. On this track, the center of Colin is forecast to approach the coast of the Florida Big Bend area this afternoon or evening, move across portions of Florida and southeastern Georgia early Tuesday morning, and move near Hatteras by Tuesday afternoon. Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph with higher gusts. Little change in strength is expected over the next few days.
