SUFFOLK, Va. - 81-year-old Willie Gary has lived around the 2300-block of Godwin Blvd. in Suffolk for over 60 years. He says he has always felt safe, until last Wednesday, when four men broke into his home, and stole his sense of security.

81-year-old Willie Gary was injured by four robbers on Wednesday.

"It wasn't just several noises," Gary told NewsChannel 3 in an exclusive interview. "It was just one big 'boom' and they were in here," he said, pointing to his living room floor.

The robbers were armed with guns, and pointed them at Gary's 15-year-old granddaughter, who was laying on the couch in the living room.

"She got up. She said when she woke up, there were two guns in her face," said Gary.

"It was just scary," Gary's granddaughter, Tiffany, told NewsChannel 3. "When I was little, I used to have dreams of people breaking in, but to actually happen, I was like, 'Woah, wait a minute, pause.'"

The men grabbed Tiffany and demanded money from Gary, who was stunned and in disbelief.

"I really thought it was some [kind of joke], that they were playing, what do you call it, Halloween? Because it was surprising to me," Gary said.

But when Gary saw the guns, he knew he was in real danger, because he had no money to give them.

"The fourth gentleman told them to tase me, and that's what they did," Gary said. "But the officer said it was a stun gun."

The thieves rummaged through the home, and left with some petty cash and a PlayStation. His family is shaken up, but thankful to be alive.

"Not many people get a gun pointed at you, and leave without being hurt," said Gary. "This is why I said initially that this was a blessing from God, not luck."
