VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Neighbors on Rain Tree Drive were startled by gunshots right outside of their door Wednesday night.

"I heard what sounded like a car accident that's when I jumped," said Robert Elm, a longtime neighbor. "We are very concerned."

According to Virginia Beach Police, people in two different cars began shooting at each other while driving down Rain Tree Drive around 9:30 p.m.

"We had a neighbor out here on the corner here say she saw flashes from the gun," explained Elm.

Police arrived on scene to find shell casings from the bullets in the street. On a police scanner, officers said they would have to canvas the entire 200 block of the street, since the shooting continued throughout most of the neighborhood.

bulletSome shell casings were even found in neighbor's lawns Thursday morning.

"They were 9 mm the casings that were found so that could go through walls," said Elm.

Luckily no one was injured in the shooting, but for neighbors on Rain Tree Drive, that is little comfort.

"There are a number of children down there on that end and they could have shot through the house."

Now they say the will be asking police for more patrols, so that their quiet neighborhood stays safe.

"They need to start being proactive up here," said Elm.

Police have not released any suspect information or car description. If you have any information about the shooting, take action and call Crime Solvers at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
