Coast Guard rescues 4 from disabled boat off Hatteras Inlet

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Four people were rescued by the Coast Guard on Thursday morning after their boat became disabled 26 miles southeast of Hatteras Inlet.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector North Carolina Command Center in Wilmington were notified at approximately 4:15 p.m. Wednesday that the 23-foot boat Joe Dot Dom was disabled with four people on board.

A 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew from Station Hatteras Inlet diverted to assist the boat at approximately 5:25 p.m. and arrived on scene at approximately 7:25 p.m. The boat crew towed the vessel and arrived at Teach’s Lair Marina in Hatteras at approximately 1:50 a.m. Thursday where the vessel moored up.

There were no injuries or pollution reported.
