First Warning Traffic: Friday Traffic Updates

CHESAPEAKE ROAD WORK:

The Gilmerton will have an extended opening everyday Monday through Thursday at 1:00 PM through May 26th and again on June 6th through 9th, expect 20 minute delays.

VIRGINIA BEACH ROAD WORK:

  • *****Elbow Rd closed to all traffic, the closure will last for five months until September 1st, 2016. The detour will be in place via Centerville Turnpike to Kempsville Rd to Indian River Rd and vise versa. ******
  • Lynnhaven Parkway closed from Albright Dr to Dalrymple St. The closure is part of the Lynnhaven Parkway project that is ongoing through the Kempsville section of the city. A detour will be in place and will vary as construction progresses.  Access to the neighborhood maintained at all times. The closures will be in place through September 2016.

HAMPTON ROADS WEEKLY LANE CLOSURE REPORT

For the week of May 6, 2016 through May 13, 2016
  • I-64 Widening Project, Newport News/York County: Single-lane closures eastbound and westbound May 8-12 as early as 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning. All work will take place between Camp Peary and Lee Hall, and one lane will remain open to traffic at all times. Please check http://i64widening.org for the latest closure/detour information.
  • Elizabeth River Tunnels/Martin Luther King, Jr. Freeway:  Please check Elizabeth River Tunnels website for the latest closure and detour information regarding the Downtown Tunnel, Midtown Tunnel and the MLK Freeway.
  • I-64 Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel: Alternating closures eastbound and westbound. One lane will remain open at all times:
  • Eastbound May 9-12 from 9 p.m. until as late as 4:30 a.m. the following morning.
  • Westbound May 12 from 9 p.m. until as late as 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • I-664 Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel: Single-lane closures as follows. One lane will remain open at all times:
  • Northbound May 8 from 8 p.m. until 12 a.m. the following morning.
  • Northbound May 8-12 from 8 p.m. until as late as 5 a.m. the following morning.
  • Northbound/Southbound May 10-12 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
  • US-17 James River Bridge, Isle of Wight County: Daytime single-lane closures northbound and southbound May 9-10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. One lane will remain open to traffic at all times.
  • I-564 Eastbound/Westbound, Norfolk: Daytime and night-time single-lane closures as follows. One lane will remain open at all times:
    • Westbound May 12 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the I-564 Runway Tunnel.
    • Eastbound May 9-12 from 7 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following morning between Norfolk Naval Station Gates 3A & 3 and I-64 West/Granby Street.

          I-464 Northbound/Southbound, Chesapeake: Single-lane and alternating lane closures as follows. One lane will remain open at all times:

    • Southbound May 9-12 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Buchanan Street Overpass.
    • Northbound May 9-12 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Buchanan Street Overpass.
    • Northbound/Southbound May 9-12 from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. at Freeman Avenue.

            VA-164 (West Norfolk Bridge), Portsmouth: Alternating lane closures as follows. One lane will remain open to traffic at all times. Eastbound/Westbound                May 8-12 from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning.

  • I-95 Southbound, Greensville/Emporia: Consecutive single-lane closures southbound as follows. One lane will remain open at all times:
    • Southbound May 8-12 from 7 a.m. until 5.pm. the following morning between Exit 13 and 11 at the Greensville County and Town of Emporia Line.
  • Military Highway Continuous Flow Intersection, Norfolk: Single-lane closures eastbound and westbound as follows. One lane will remain open to traffic at all times.
  • Eastbound May 8-9 from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning on Princess Anne Road between Kilmer to Military Highway.
  • I-64 West off-ramp to Bay Avenue, Norfolk: The I-64 westbound off-ramp to Bay Avenue will be closed May 8-9 from 9 p.m. until 4:30 a.m. the following morning.
  • Bay Avenue on-ramp to I-64 West, Norfolk: The I-64 westbound off-ramp to Bay Avenue will be closed May 8-9 from 9 p.m. until 4:30 a.m. the following morning.
  • Indian River Road on-ramp to I-64 East, Virginia Beach: The Indian River Road on-ramp to I-64 eastbound will be closed May 8-9 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning. A detour will be in place.
  • I-64 Eastbound/Westbound, Norfolk: Night-time alternating lane closures eastbound and westbound May 8-12 between Chesapeake Avenue and Tidewater Drive. One lane will remain open to traffic at all times.
  • I-64 Eastbound/Westbound, Norfolk: Night-time alternating lane closures eastbound and westbound May 8-12 between Northampton Boulevard and Military Highway. One lane will remain open to traffic at all times.
  • I-64 Eastbound, York County: Single-lane closures westbound May 9-12 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning between VA-143 (exit 243B) and Route 199 Lightfoot (exit 234). One lane will remain open at all times.
  • VA-199 over College Creek Eastbound/Westbound, York County: Alternating lane closures as follows. One lane will remain open to traffic at all times.
  • I-64 Eastbound, York County: Single-lane closures westbound May 11 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning between VA-143 (exit 243B) and West Queens Drive Overpass. One lane will remain open at all times.
    • Eastbound/Westbound May 8-12 from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning

            Route 301 Northbound, Greensville County: Left-lane consecutive closure on Route 301 northbound May 2-26. The right lane will remain open.

  • I-664 North On-Ramp at I-64 Interchange, Hampton: Right-lane consecutive closure through May 9 from I-664 northbound on-ramp to I-64 westbound. Traffic is being shifted to the left lane. Alternating-lane closures May 9-10 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning. One lane will remain open at all times.
  • George Washington Memorial Highway (Route 17), York County: Crews are widening the road between Route 630 (Wolf Trap Road) and Route 706 (Hampton Highway). Daytime single-lane closures, from 9 a.m.to 3 p.m. and weeknight single-lane closures, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Expect traffic shifts and delays.
