SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va — The AMBER Alert issued early Thursday for a 3-year-old believed to be taken by his father in Spotsylvania County has been canceled.

Police said Zion Williams was returned to his maternal grandmother late Thursday morning, according to WTOP.

Authorities are still looking for the boy’s father, 28-year-old Joshua Christopher Williams. He’s wanted on warrants for abduction and malicious wounding.

The entire incident began Wednesday night when the boy’s mother and Joshua Williams got into a domestic dispute in a vehicle.

Williams allegedly beat up the mother before she was able to escape from the vehicle. He then drove off with their son.
