OREGON INLET, N. C. – The United States Coast Guard rescued a man and woman from a skiff near Kill Devil Hills on Thursday.

Watchstanders at Sector North Carolina received a report at approximately 2:35 p.m. that a 16-foot skiff boat was disabled.

The Coast Guard responded within the hour to offer assistance, arriving with a 24-foot Special Purpose Craft-Shallow Water crew. The man and woman on board the boat were reported to have no injuries.

“We were glad the crew from Station Oregon Inlet were able to assist in getting the two boaters back safely,” stated Chief Petty Officer Seth Haynes.

“The Coast Guard always encourages boater safety and familiarity with the waters you are operating in, ” Hayes stated.
